The Henry Williams Scholarship raises funds through donations and its annual Luncheon. Most of the donations come from the members of Bethel A.M.E. Church. Many of the donations are small amounts. However, several members of the Church and the San Diego Community have included the Scholarship Fund in their estate planning.
In addition to regular donations the scholarship fund has a Booster Program. People who give $50 or more are recognized as Boosters. Donors who give larger amounts through estate planning are designated Sustaining Boosters as their contributions allow the scholarship program to remain solvent. All committee members are obligated to make a yearly donation as a condition of membership. The names of the Boosters are printed on the programs at the Awards Ceremony.
The annual Scholarship Luncheon generates a small amount of money thru ticket sales. The Luncheon is held each Spring. Committee members participate in the Luncheon by serving, donating door prizes and ticket sales. Members are each responsible for a set number of tickets. The Luncheon also serves as publicity for the Scholarship.
Donations are also solicited from past recipients and their families. Donations, both large and small are accepted year round.
